A Note About Insurance for Newborns

Read what you can expect when it comes to the payment of your baby's care.

If your baby doesn’t have insurance,
YOU ARE SELF-PAY.

You are expected to pay for the visit right after the apointment.

We take cash, check and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Care Credit).

If you (or partner) bought or have insurance through your employer

Call the phone number on both parents' insurance cards to:

  • Make sure it has benefits to cover a child
  •  Find out what paperwork needs to be completed

Inform both insurances when baby is born.

If you are under your parent’s insurance

Unless grandparents add the baby to their policy, your baby won't be covered.

Apply for KanCare online or request a paper application.

If you have Medicaid/ KanCare

Call to report name and date of birth.

Amerigroup: 1-800-600-4441
Sunflower: 1-877-644-4623
United: 1-877-542-9238

Before birth, fill everything out. Flag what needs to be completed after baby is born: date of birth, name, etc. You can put “newborn” in the social security blank if needed, but then you must call your insurance with the number once you get it. Please call and let us know, too.

Use our printable insurance worksheet for newborns below to guide you about coverage. We recomend printing it, writting down the information and keeping it for future reference.
